Case of Acrylic Occlusal Splint

Female, 27, await for implant placement following 5 months of bone grafting. As the patient is 1-month pregnant, the treatment cannot be continue. Thus, the occlusal splint on lower teeth is considered to prevent the antagonist tooth from extruding into the edentulous space. The treatment will continue after the the patient delivers.

Bite Registration using Leaf Gauge technique

The patient is told to bite on the leaf gauge and doing protrusive and excursive movements to find the normal patient bite. The posterior space should be a minimum of 2 mm, which is to block the freeway space. After the checking that there is enough space, bit registration is recorded.

Occlusal Splint on the Lower Teeth

In the try-in phase, the splint was soaked into the hot water for hardness reduce and thus better fitting into the patient mouth. Next, using the 30 microns articulating papers to highlight the occlusal contacts and distribution of occlusal forces. Then, reducing the high occlusal contacts for even distribution of biting forces.
